Traumatic Memories

Flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, dissociation, relationship decay, anger, depression, addictions . . . all together, these may give you a diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Even at 'sub-clinical' levels, the distress caused by past trauma is extreme, and telling yourself to 'get over it' just makes you feel ashamed and weak, when your feelings are perfectly normal!

I do not TREAT psychological disorders, but the methods I use can help restore balance and flow and help you manage emotions, and release the hold your memories have on you.

Doctors and psychiatrists have tried anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and other medications (including anti-psychotics), hypnosis, primal scream therapy, frontal lobotomies, shock therapy, and more.  Some of these are helpful in the short term; others, as we now know, are abusive in the extreme and have been for the most part outlawed, thankfully.  None are actually curative; they just help you cope with unwanted emotions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been a great help to some people, but it doesn't seem to prevent the recurrence of the depression or other disorder, the next time a disappointment or failure or new trauma comes along.

Counselors used to think you had to revisit your trauma in order to 'deal' with it.  Now, we know this is often harmful rather than helpful, and yet many people still avoid counseling because they believe they will have to talk about what happened.

Fortunately, Energy Psychology offers 'tearless trauma' methods that are safe and easy.  They can help people separate the memory of the trauma from the emotions that go with the memories.  They balance the right and left halves of the brain, integrating the traumatic memories with normal 'narrative' memory, which doesnt carry the same emotional residue or charge.  Finally, they allow the body to release the blockages that arise from the trauma, causing disorder and pain.

The techniques help you to stop fighting the pain and begin releasing it!

Once the blockages in the energy system are removed, the trauma becomes just something that happened. It doesn't define you or limit you any longer.

You may feel sad about it when you bring it to mind, especially if there was a significant loss associated with the trauma; but your thoughts no longer make you feel you are going through the trauma again.

One of the foremost researchers in the field of trauma therapy says this about EFT, EMDR and other Energy Medicine methods:

'These methods . . . can bring about remarkably rapid changes in the way people feel and move through the world.'

— Bessel A. van der Kolk, M.D.

Medical Director, the Trauma Center, Boston, MA

Professor of Psychiatry, Boston University School of Medicine

These methods are without question the easiest, safest, most wholistic way to treat PTSD and other stress-related disorders or conditions.

If you know someone who could benefit from Energy Psychology or other Energy Medicine methods, why not purchase a Gift Certificate so they can try it out?

Energy Medicine is offered in person wherever I am located (I travel a lot) or in online sessions, which are equally effective.

Energy methods do not replace treatment by a medical doctor or licensed counselor.  They are meant to complement and enhance the work you do with your primary care person.
