Spinal Flush

The Spinal Flush is a part of the General (Quickie) Energy Balancer, and is easily available as a stand-alone activity for couples to do together. Donna Eden has this done to her every day without fail by her husband, David Feinstein.

The receiver stands with hands braced on a chair or the wall, or lies prone on a bed or massage table. The giver, using thumbs, elbows, massage tools or any other firm, smooth implement, rubs in small circles on either side of the spine, checking in with the receiver as to the pressure. The idea is to target the neurovascular reflex points that lie in these spaces. The stimulation sends energy and balance to the meridians associated with the points.

If you have a particular tenderness in one or more of the points, it may be that the meridian associated with it is in need of support. If the neurovascular point is tender, it NEEDS to be stimulated, according to Donna.

When I am working on clients, I usually ask them to let me know if I hit sore spots during the Spinal Flush, as it can help me identify what meridians are involved with the issues the person is seeking help for, whether they are physical, emotional or existential.

You can give yourself a spinal flush by tying two tennis balls into a sock, and rolling them down the hollows on either side of the spin, either against a wall or on a floor or mat. This may be quite painful at first, so be kind to yourself!
